Apis mellifera photos
A bee with damaged wings. This is usually a sign of heavy vorroa infestation. The varroa transmits a virus (Deformed Wing Virus, DWV) which causes a high incidence of bad-winged bees. Bees like this will survive for 2-3 days inside the hive, then would walk out (kicked out?) the hive and die in the field.
